Victorinox and Wenger garden tools

These are my two latest knives for my collection. It is a Victorinox knife made for Felco and a Wenger Graft 03. Victorinox make knives for Felco SA and from 2009 a deal was made on delivering a selection of knives.

One of these is the wood handled knife 1.93.00 a heavy pruning knife. It is very well made with brass liners and hardwood handles. The curved pruning blade is good for desuckering.

For me it is no doubt about the quality and it is for sure a hard use tool for professionals.  The construction is very strong and with a powerful spring. It is comfortable to open and close. I have done much research the last years on the uses of such a blade. It is really a multifunction tool used not only for gardens but also for plantations, other special uses for floor and wall coverings. It got many uses.

It is an interesting handle with the shape and the wood surface is not slippery.

Then to the Wenger knife, it is a grafting knife for different uses. This knife got very much quality for the money, low priced but useful. The construction is interesting with the plastic scales and open rivets.

I really like this knife for its simplicity. Nice red plastic handles that is comfortable. Total length is almost 10cm. The Victorinox got two open rivets, the third looks to be hidden in the spring. Total length about 11cm

two good knives, the wood looks extra special.

The Victorinox knife got a heavy duty blade.

Liberon wax is very good for repair on furniture

The knives made for gardeners and horticulture can just as well be used for many others tasks. Even electricians use some of the 100mm category knives. This category is also used for advertising.

The 100mm knives is from my information divided into two with one economy line and one normal line if I can say so. The ones with red handles do not have brass liners and so on. The red economy made knives is lighter in weight than the black knives.

Different wood cutting require a knife blade shape for special purpose operations. On the picture you can see some knives by Victorinox and Wenger.

I like the scales and shape, it got some textured surface on the countersunk area. the Wenger Graft 03 is only 35 grams

garden knives update

Today i received my two latest knives, it is a Wenger Graft 75 and a Victorinox Felco 3.90 60.

I really like the economy and the less expensive knives and these two knives are lightweight with approx. 35 grams. The Victorinox knife is a light grafting and pruning knife with nylon scales. This is an economy made knife. These two knives can be used for much more than the garden designation.

This Wenger Graft 75 got the emblem on the handle; the emblem is not on all and can vary. It is a very nice knife.

These categories of knives probably give the most value for the money of all Victorinox and Wenger knives. These two knives are only for my collection.

Blade stamps

Edge update

On many garden knives one side of the blade is almost flat. I call it a chisel type edge and this type of edge is a controversy for many. On a garden type knife this edge serves a special purpose and it is directional and you can use it for cutting jobs that require a guided line.

A Victorinox knife i have used some with the chisel type edge.

History update

I recommend looking in the Victorinox 1942 catalogue on SakWiki, there you can see many garden related knives and tools. Very impressive!
