From 2007 Wenger did release New Rangers to the marked, made new from a to z. From that date mentioned and until today many new
knives got made.
These knives are made for the more heavy use in the outdoors, in this case size does matter. What is interesting is how well these knives are tested around the world, and high scores
as a result.
I found it very interesting to study them, let me give my impressions:
A very good looking knife and good feel in the hand,
i am sure these knives must be one of the best engineered category knife i have seen. Every detail and function well made. One of my special interests and study is the locking mechanisms. Not only fun to use but also safe, the modified liner prevents accidental
closing. This is why the lock was made! Comfort and safety goes hand in hand.
The large functions in the Rangers gives a much faster and more comfortable work. I agree with the philosophy that a
Swiss Army Knife performs, this is why it was made.
The 130mm is the size category the New Rangers have. This is a large platform and the wood saw follow the old Ranger style but more developed
usually. Then we get a large locking blade that also can have a combination edge. A safety knife should always have a one hand opening blade. No problem, it was made!
Today this category got knives
for the outdoors and also special purpose tools made for hunters. The knives also got potential, this was shown with many special scale camo types. And not to forget the grip(RangerGrip) The Hex opening got much potential since one can custom make a pack for
any use.
I took a look on the rivits, assembly, functions, scales and how it was engineered. It is for me the most interesting new knives made. So much put into them, much new.
A safety knife got a one hand opening blade with locking. The scales must be slip resistant and one need a ring for lanyards. Possible to carry in
a sheath and scale color easy to see.
It is no surprise that the New Rangers have knives made for survival and organisations that
require a knife for more extreme use.
