The Alox knives are very popular with collectors and users. They are designed for especially selective crafts work. Everyone knows that they are very sturdy and long lasting tools. The model on the picture
is called Victorinox Pioneer Rancher. This one is from the early 1980s and got brass liners and old cross emblem.
The small curved blade is called a pruner or pruning blade and can be used for garden
or horticulture work. The harvester model adds on a saw and would make the tool configuration more versatile.
We know that the knife on the picture is designed for selective crafts work that would
need such a blade and this can be different crafts work. My impressions with Victorinox are the versatile use of a knife. The model number on this knife is 0.8140.20 and this is the most important to know. If we study Victorinox and the long history then
we can see that this blade shape in different sizes has been part of the history very much.
There are different variations of the Rancher knife in history.
The awl used on Alox knives from 1961 is a very good one. It can drill a hole in different materials!
