W120 Wetlands

Here is a very nice Ranger 120mm category that I recently bought in Denmark. The model number is 1 77 05 802 Ranger Camo 05. This is the old Ranger configuration that Wenger used before the New Ranger 130mm knives in 2007. I never managed to find the complete story on when the old Ranger knives was stopped completely in the production. It may be that it continued all the way until 2013. I looked on the functions and compared with some new Ranger knives from 2009 and it looks to me that it could be that the old 120mm configuration continued with some changes. We know that they were produced in 2006-2007. This one got the Bill Jordans Advantage Wetlands camo design and it is like an artwork.

It is a very nice knife with large functions for Hunting purposes for birds and other and it got the slide release button for the liner locking mechanism. There are obvious differences between this and the New Rangers.

The blade is long with a clip design. It looks like this knife does not have brass rivets and brass was used on the 1990s configuration and up. There is for sure an evolution on the W120 or 120mm knives too with variations. This is a great knife.

What we can say for sure is that the Ranger knives was re-designed A-Z. Gradually the New Ranger knives took over until it exploded with a huge number of models in the latest years of the Wenger history. My belief is that after 2007 the 130mm was the new large outdoors product. During 2001-2007 the W120 was introduced with handle designs and this includes Realtree hardwoods as well. Most likely they continued on a smaller scale with special purpose models with advertising and knives for professional users. Most likely some knives are the results of using up parts and some are special request knives. I am rather sure the W120 knives are after 2009 too because this knife show signs of a production that is around 2009.

There are many W120 models for collectors and areas for further research and development.

This category also got the very large saw that can be used on much more than just wood.

The blade is very long.

If you have any information with Wenger history or any corrections of my information then please let me know. There are several patterns used by Wenger and this knife should be the Advantage Max 4 Wetlands.

The 120mm continued after the New Ranger. They had Patent and not pat pend. I say pat pend first then patent next. But! Wenger did many variations! :)

It is a superb question. Wenger used different stamps, some because of european laws. Usually the quality and steel is the same. Which is first? Not sure.
