Oil knife

Here is an extra interesting Victorinox knife and it got an inlay for BP that should be British Petrolium.

The functions and stamp is 1961-1970 and the feel for me is mid-1960s. It is a 84mm category.

On the wiki page for BP  you can find much interesting information that goes well with a collector hobby. Advertising knives can be very interesting because you can cross date the knife and advert. Sometimes you can be lucky to find dates used on advertising knives that may help you to become better in dating knives.

It seems to be that the inlay is made of nickel-silver with quality. The quality on the 84mm knife itself is very good. They are durable and the springs are fully operational. It must have given a very solid impression to receive this knife back then. It is Victoria stamped.

Here is another extra interesting 84mm knife by Victorinox with the same functions. This knife is from 1961-1970 and the feel is mid-1960s to the late 1960s. Victoria stamped. The quality is very good. I have been trying to find the DUAP advertising identified.  It is probably not oil related but if it is related to Duap.ch then it may be related to engine systems. Let me know if you have information.

Here is a nice 91mm Climber configuration Victorinox knife. The 91mm knife and functions was made from 1999-2004. The advertising is interesting and it is a ABB company knife and the turbocharging is related to diesel and gas engines.

12.12.2020 Gas related

This is a Gas related 91mm advertising Victorinox with printed scale for a Company that is easy to find. It got the climber configuration and this got all the aspects of 1999-2003 made SAK. When the advertising was made I am not sure about completely. The emblem is inlay on the backside scale. It is in very nice condition with functions that’s probably not used much. It only got some small scratches on the scales. I like this Advertising SAK very much because they used the closest thing to the main-line and best quality. Things like this make a difference for collectors too. It gives a solid impression and signal in deed.

On the picture to the right you can see a 74mm red alox I have had a good time. This is an advertising VICTORIA crossbow backside tang stamped Victorinox knife. It could actually be 60s/70s. The design on the nail file and cleaner tip can be misleading. It could also be late 1970s for the knife and advert, all factors considered. It is not possible to be 100% on dating them.  If I am correct the advertising is for Goltens and this Company is easy to find information about. The Founder was a pioneering Norwegian in history. This is a Company with many roles.

The 120mm continued after the New Ranger. They had Patent and not pat pend. I say pat pend first then patent next. But! Wenger did many variations! :)

The old Ranger 120mm is from 1991, on my 1993 it is pat pend I have seen it on 1991 too and Swissbuck as well! Wenger can be a minefield because of variations

It is a superb question. Wenger used different stamps, some because of european laws. Usually the quality and steel is the same. Which is first? Not sure.
