Here is a very interesting advertising Wenger knife that i have put into the mid-1990s. This knife got the Wenger emblem on the backside handle. With advertising and profiling knives it is even more difficult to be sure about the year or to date it without using the advertising itself. I am still working on this advertising. The usual Wenger evolution does not follow this line of products and this is mainly because of two reasons: Company production and the profile market with the delay of products and use of knives from storage. In the Company production there are different applications and products. It is difficult many times to know if it is an advertising done by Wenger or an independent actor for such applications. There are different methods and this is a Pad printing type.

Be sure that this is a knife and adverting made in a big number or at least have this as a factor.

If this knife is mid-1990s then it does show that this knife still has the old spring construction, both side grind flat screwdriver, pointy awl + other smaller factors. I do remember the DnB Den norske Bank and the logo but I must check further to confirm. To date Wenger knives can be more than difficult, sure is fun that said too. Blue handle scales are used much with knives for advertising. This got a variation blue that is interesting.

Names, advertisings, profiling and other personalization represents a huge part of the history with SAKs.

Advertising knives sometimes fill into a category on its own but for sure budget, Basic and main line of knives are used for such applications as well. Based on this knife it seems to me it in between a budget and main-line. Pointy awl can be found during most of the 1990s and the one side grind flat screwdriver can be found on and off or mixed. The spring construction can have huge variations in dates. The use of older and newer type tang stamps can also vary and there are many other factors to know.  When you use The Wenger evolution page on remember that this is mostly for the main line and there will be variations always. It depends on how accurate you want it in year of manufacture. This knife I will use for further knowledge for sure. Already mentioned is the profile market companies that a knife can be in a storage for a few years before used and what category this knife is. Den norske Bank is from 1990, then 1992 and 1996 represents a change, we will see.

It is interesting to wonder if this SAK is given as a gift to customer or an employee. I guess both.

Another factor is that a private person have replaced or mixed the handles from a knife. This is very rare and usually never any problem.

On this knife there are different small production variations and details that most would not see or care about. Enthusiast and collectors would see them.

Hi, thank you very much! I believe it could be because of them having different additional functions, example scraper and so forth. BR Trond

Hi! Thank you very much for question. The awl and chisel can be sharpened by following the grinded angle on them. I will have it in my mind. BR Trond

Now my question: how come that Vic has got TWO versions of an orange peeling tool in their "small" series. Oranges are not really that important here....
