Limited 2017

It is time for some knife talk and i will use the opportunity to show a very special set that i actually got today. Swiza is a knife Brand that during the very last years has received much attention around the world. It quickly developed a reputation to be a quality product. At the very end of 2017 The Swiza Brand introduced a Limited Set with only 300 pieces made, this means it is ultra-rare. I did not believe that I would manage to get one set because 300 pieces is honestly such a low number that it speaks for itself and also that I was a bit late to look for it. I am very grateful that I could secure one set and to be able to show this here on I absolutely love quality pocket knives and these are above and beyond. There are four knives in the special quality box. Opening the box i found out without severe consequences the four Swiza knives with different artwork on the handles. The functions are matt black coated. I consider myself humble and extremely grateful for owning such a special set that I will show individually in the coming days. The box is numbered with 161/300 and this means each set got an individual number.

The topic with the artwork on the handle scales is the four seasons and the first knife I will show in detail is the D04 Winter edition, with the ski topic beautifully designed on the white handle side. The D04 got the Phillips screwdriver, awl, knife blade, and flat screwdriver with cap opener and bending notch, can-opener with flat screwdriver tip and tweezers well hidden in the handle side. The "all black" finish is actually PVD titanium nitride coating that serves several functions - More than just for the obvious appearance and design. Liners, locking-liner and functions are covered.

The fit and finish is excellent executed on the D04 with a good locking mechanism. In my opinion nothing can compare to versatile pocket knives with functions. It is just a match made in heaven for the modern world.

If you study some of my pages on Swiza knives you can see some information on the construction and functions. They are high technology made products with the typical Swiss precision.

Titanium nitride coating got several positive factors for stainless steel. It will increase the corrosion abilities on the already high grade stainless steel. It will increase the surface hardness on the functions and it will prevent discolorations on the steel. The coating will boost the wear resistance and scratches that appears from use will be on the PVD coating and not on the stainless steel. The knife blade edge will not have the coating. It will therefor continue to have the 57 Rockwell (HRC) that this steel is recommended at for the best cutting abilities. For pocket-knives this is a versatile area that is extremely easy to sharpen. It is done in seconds. This set is designed for use but for sure it will remain unused for collecting and knowledge only.

"The contrast between the black and white is beautiful"

The Swiza Brand is reinventing the Swiss knife,

The reason for why this set was only made in 300 totally worldwide? It is interesting to wonder on and the number 300 in mythology is very heavy for me and perhaps directed at the 300 Spartans....

The finish is black matt, on the tip of the blade is some oil.....

Serious cool factor! I am now one of 300....

On this picture it is in the order it was in the box when i opened it. I cannot find anything wrong with them nor do I have any negative to mention. The box got a magnetic holder for the lid and it got an inlay Swiza numbering shield. The next model that will be shown in detail is the spring edition. Maybe tomorrow, stay tuned. The winter edition shown today fit very well because it is snowing outside.

Even the tweezers is coated with PVD.

For those of you that also follow the development of Swiza know about the introduction of the All Black model that also include black handles. This set shown today got the all black construction and functions. It got white handle scales with the special season artwork.

“The knife blades got locking mechanism that you can release by pressing the emblem. Blades like these are very versatile. If one would sum up what kind of cutting is used the most then I would believe the answer to be precision tasks. From experience I know from study of peoples EDC that small, slim blades that is precise and sharp are used the most”

The most important with Swiss knives are the quality of the functions for EDC tasks.  It does not take long with Swiza to feel and see that it is a quality product. Slip-joint designs are comfortable to use. Locking mechanisms for the knife blades above are designed for preventing accidental closing. The emblem push release is made for comfort and safety. Ergonomic handle scales with slip resistance complete it.

It is fully possible to touch the edge up out of the box.
