Today i received a very interesting new Swiss knife that i recently bought. It is the model TT05 Filix orange. It is one of the absolute latest innovations from the Swiza Company. Most of the functions on this knife I have already shown here on One of the functions is a bit historic because it implements a new function called Tick Tool and it is designed for removing Ticks. This function also has a nice magnifier that is helpful and it gives a clear magnification that can be used for several other tasks. The complete tool is made of a flexible plastic.

We have much Ticks here in Norway and it can be a problem during the spring until autumn several places. It is smart to check yourself when you get the chance because the sooner you can remove it the better. The best is to take a random overview to see if you have any. Lyme disease or Borreliosis is no joke, it can become serious.

I have picked many Ticks over the years on dogs but only a few on myself because I have been aware of it for several years already. I find them before it starts the process of penetrating the skin.  I check the dog often too and get a substance from the Vet. Even so it is unavoidable that some can manage to attach.

Since this tool is new I have not tested it yet but it’s already been tested by the Swiza Company. I will test it when I get the chance for sure. When the Tick shall be removed from the skin it is important to remove it completely.

The TT05 is a very nicely made Swiss Knife with several very useful functions for EDC, outdoors or any other interests.

The Filix orange is very easy to see with the eye catching color shades.

With the paper information in the box you can see instructions on using the tools correct. I have a good quality feel of this TT05.

Once again I am surprised on the rapid development of the Company that shows very clear impressions of reaching new goals.

From experience I know that if you use a tweezer for removing the Tick it can rip it in two pieces with the head still attached in the skin. With experience you learn to use the tweezers correctly and remove it completely. The tool on the Swiza knife got a distinct angle called V-cleft. It is a much better solution compared to tweezers and you can pull out the complete Tick from the skin.

The tool is a translucent material and this is most likely done to increase functionality both for flexibility and to be able to see well.

Swiss knives never stops to amaze me, it only becomes more.

The TT05 comes with a tweezer that can be helpful for other bites or stings.

The magnifier can be used for more than looking at bites and stings. X3 magnification can be used for looking at the bites and stings from insects and Ticks but also for production variations, tang stamps and functions. It is a function you can find used on Wenger and Victorinox SAKs and it is a function I have used a lot for hobbies. It is a very useful feature with all the other functions on such knives.

Swiss knives with versatile multifunctional abilities are used all over the world. It’s become synonymous with everything involved with versatility. Swiss knives are made with different tool configurations for several needs. They are also made with designs to increase the identification for people’s personal interests. Some are in general form and some as special purpose configurations for services or professional users. Swiss knives are usually always made for more than one task but not every time. This is the selection of tools that decides but also each and individual function is made to be used for more tasks than one. Some functions are special purpose made for needs as this Tick Tool on the Swiza knife. This independent tool can be used for more than just Ticks. There is also the very important factor this got because this is a special designed function on a Swiss knife that radiates versatile abilities; it will therefore have the ability to be an ambassador for knowledge about Lyme disease or Borreliosis. It will be helpful for removing it from the skin but also be an awakening for the mind. Swiss knives are known to have this ability. This function got a safety factor because you know that it is important to be aware of the problem and that you have the ability to remove the problem if necessary.

Some may wonder what it feels like to have a tick on the skin. It is not easy to feel them before it begins to dig into the skin. This can also be difficult to feel before it managed to get deep into the skin and be attached. Some feel it momentarily before it managed to get to deep. When it is attached it can sit rather well and it requires some effort to get it out. When it is attached you can feel that something is going on because it itches much.

I usually always prefer that it is completely removed because this helps preventing infections by a foreign element embedded in the skin. If it is completely removed it is easier to clean as well. It is usually not dangerous if some parts are left. It will disappear by itself in time.

Not all ticks are carrying the dangerous infections and in some cases you will get a ring around the bite anyhow. It can feel infected and itch very much. The infection can simply be because of the bite and not from the Lyme disease.

Another problem with the ticks is the variations in sizes with some that are very small and some larger. They are usually just a few millimeters in size. They also have some color variations. The smallest ones are the most difficult to remove if it manages to get deep into the skin and some will have to wait until it draw blood to be large enough. The best is not to wait in my opinion.

It is usually never any problems if you take precaution by random checks and a full look over when home.

When a tick is full of blood it will let go by itself. It gets easier and easier to remove them as they fill up and get bigger.

The Swiza knives received the Red Dot Design award in 2016. The design is very well and fresh, they really look good. Since then numerous new knives entered the market.

Here you have it! This is a tick. Strong winters may prevent them to becoming too many. This winter was tough with strong cold but it seems it survived in good numbers anyhow. Not difficult to find now from spring. Remember when you look on your dogs that it may not be easy to see them and it will only be seen when you  shower the dog. When they are on the skin of the dog and you shower them it seems they start to move away from the skin and crawl out on the fur. If attached it may die from swimming but it will or may survive that too.
